Annual Lifeboat Inspection – Port of Khorfakkan
Safety at sea was not assumed — it was verified through inspection and operation.
The annual lifeboat inspection was carried out under normal port conditions, with emphasis placed on actual performance rather than visual compliance.
The lifeboat was lowered and supported, allowing close examination of critical components including the davit structure, winch arrangement, wire ropes, hooks, and load-bearing parts.
Mechanical assemblies were opened where required to check internal wear, lubrication condition, alignment, and corrosion resulting from continuous marine exposure.
Operational tests were then carried out to confirm controlled lowering, stable holding, and safe recovery, with each movement observed for response, vibration, and consistency.
The inspection was completed in accordance with IMO / SOLAS requirements, confirming the system remained fit for service and ready for use when required.
When emergencies allow no margin for error, preparation happens long before the moment arrives.
