How often do lifeboats need to be inspected?
Every year by an authorised service provider, with a more extensive examination, release gear overhaul and load testing every five years, as required by IMO MSC.402(96). Crew also carry out weekly and monthly checks.
Can you inspect lifeboats from any manufacturer?
Yes. Our technicians work on the common lifeboat, davit and release hook makes found on merchant ships and offshore units, and we hold the class approvals needed to issue the certificates.
