Five-Yearly Inspection & Load Test – Damen Shipyard, Hamriyah
Proud to share another successful milestone from our marine safety operations. Our team has completed the five-yearly inspection and load testing of the Rescue Boat, Davit, and Winch System at Hamriyah Port – Damen Facility.
The project began with a thorough assessment of the davit structure, winch assembly, wire systems, and sheave components. Several mechanical parts were stripped down for an internal inspection, allowing us to examine bearings, bushings, and rotating hubs with precision. This step ensured that every moving element was evaluated for safety, integrity, and long-term performance.
Following the structural and mechanical checks, the rescue boat was positioned for functional verification. All cradle supports, lifting points, and release mechanisms were inspected and confirmed to be operating within safety limits. The team ensured seamless alignment and readiness before proceeding with the heavy lifting operations.
To validate the system’s load-handling capacity, we carried out a full-scale load test using certified water bags. The davit and winch performed flawlessly under a measured load of approximately 2174 kg, meeting all required safety and class standards. Functional trials—including hoisting, lowering, and brake-hold tests—were completed without any anomalies.
This successful inspection and testing cycle reaffirms our commitment to maritime safety, operational excellence, and compliance with international standards. A special appreciation to the team for their expertise, dedication, and attention to detail throughout the process.
Ensuring marine safety isn’t just our job—it’s our responsibility.
