Yacht Passerelle Gangway & Boarding Ladder Load Test – Port Rashid
The load testing and operational verification of the luxury yacht passerelle gangway and MarQuipt ladder were successfully carried out on board the yacht at Port Rashid, United Arab Emirates. The scope of work included comprehensive functional testing, proof load application, and operational assessment of the embarkation equipment located at both the starboard and aft boarding areas.
Certified test weights were carefully positioned along the passerelle to simulate operational loading conditions in accordance with applicable marine safety regulations and lifting equipment standards. The passerelle gangway, with a Safe Working Load (SWL) of 250 kg, together with the Marquipt boarding ladder, which was proof load tested to 400 lbs, underwent full operational and structural verification.
Prior to commencement of the testing activities, a detailed visual inspection and technical assessment were performed. The inspection covered the overall structural condition, mechanical integrity, hydraulic system performance, securing arrangements, control functions, and general operational readiness of the equipment. Particular attention was given to the condition of hinges, telescopic sections, support structures, hydraulic hoses, control stations, and safety fittings to ensure compliance with operational safety requirements.
During the functional and load testing process, the passerelle gangway was extended, slewed, elevated, and operated under simulated service conditions while carrying the designated proof load. The MarQuipt ladder was likewise subjected to operational verification and load application to confirm structural stability and safe deployment characteristics. Throughout the testing period, both systems operated smoothly and satisfactorily without any signs of abnormal vibration, structural deformation, hydraulic leakage, excessive deflection, or operational malfunction.
The inspection and test results confirmed that the passerelle gangway and MarQuipt ladder remain in satisfactory operational condition and are functioning correctly within their designated Safe Working Load limits. All safety features and operational controls responded effectively during the testing procedures.
Following the successful completion of the load testing, operational verification, and final inspection, the relevant test certification was duly issued confirming the equipment’s suitability for continued service onboard the yacht.
